Eight months after STCP took over the enforcement of parking and traffic violations in public spaces, especially in bus lanes, the results confirm the positive impact of the operation on the city's mobility and the circulation of public transport on the main arteries of Porto.

Between February and September, the STCP inspection team recorded 5,068 infractions, which corresponds to an average of 634 vehicles fined per month. September stood out as the month with the highest number of recorded infractions. The most frequent infraction continues to be parking in areas with no-stopping and no-parking signs, representing 42% of the fines. This is followed by parking at public transport stops (less than 5 or 25 meters away), improper occupation of lanes reserved for public transport, and parking in areas marked with no-parking signs. The presence of the STCP inspection team, composed of 8 agents accredited by the National Road Safety Authority, supported by the Porto Municipal Police, has improved the flow of bus traffic, particularly in areas that previously experienced frequent and lengthy interruptions, and in ensuring compliance with parking regulations. In total, 175 streets were inspected, allowing for the identification of areas with the greatest impact on mobility, such as Rua da Restauração, Rua de Costa Cabral, and Rua da Prelada. The operations are carried out in coordination with the STCP Traffic Control and Operations Center and the Porto Integrated Management Center, prioritizing the smooth flow of bus traffic. In the first phase, the approach is primarily educational and awareness-raising, but with the central objective of eliminating obstacles to public transport circulation and improving urban mobility. The inspection carried out by STCP is an ongoing operation, which is expected to have a progressively more positive impact on public transport circulation and mobility in the city of Porto.
